Cobham Explorer 510 Applications

Recommended for:

  • Explorer 510 can be used with all Apple, MAC, and Windows devices.
  • All apps that people typically use on their smartphones and tablets will work – i.e. no restrictions.
  • Apple and MAC users will use Explorer 510 apps to manage the terminal’s internet connection and make voice calls.
  • Windows users will manage the Explorer 510 internet using its built-in management web page, and Skype for voice calls.

Usage Observations:

  • The flat part of the Explorer 510 is its satellite antenna. It needs to remain pointed towards the satellite for operation.
  • Due to the above requirement the Explorer 510 Inmarsat BGAN terminal is not suitable for use on moving vessels.

  • Explorer 510 Inmarsat BGAN support 464 kbps download speeds without using any compression and acceleration apps.
  • Optional 3rd party compression and acceleration apps may increase throughput speeds significantly.

Not recommended for:

  • Extended use at fixed locations as terrestrial connections are cheaper to use.
  • Extensive use of excessively bandwidth-hungry applications such as live video feeds torrents.
